West Northfield Elementary Choir is an opportunity for grade three through six students to sing as part of a school choir. We will rehearse once a week allowing students to develop musicianship through singing, build team working skills by contributing to a large group, and perform for various concerts and assemblies.

Sonny’s Dream - Ron Hynes

Sonny lives on a farm on a wide open space,

Where you can take off your sneakers and give up the race;

You could lay down your head by a sweet river bed,

But Sonny always remembers what it was his momma said.

Chorus: Sonny, don't go away, I am here all alone,
And your daddy's a sailor who never comes home;
And the nights get so long and the silence goes on,
And I'm feeling so tired, I'm not all that strong.

Sonny carries a load though he's barely a man,

There ain't all that to do, but he does what he can;

And he watches the sea from a room by the stairs,

And the waves keep on rollin', they've done that for years.

Chorus

It's a hundred miles to town, Sonny's never been there,

And he goes to the highway and he stands there and stares;

And the mail comes at four and the mailman is old,

But he still dreams his dreams full of silver and gold.

Chorus

Sonny's dreams can't be real, they're just stories he's read,

Stars in his eyes and dreams in his head;

And he's hungry inside for the wide world outside,

And I know I can't hold him though I've tried and I've tried and I've tried.

Chorus

Travel Song

Donkey: Sing a song, yes, a travel song

              When you gotta go somewhere

'Cause the fun is getting there

Yeah, oh, what the heck? I must confess I love a road trip

Sing a song, hit the trail

Forget the maps, forget the guides

              Before ya know it

              You've made strides with me

And I know all I need all along

Is a path and a pal and a song

So I'm singin' and I'm pallin' with you

Shrek: Why me? Why me?

Tell me what was my crime?

He's as chatty as a parrot

           More annoying than a mime

Hey, look, a cat who's wearing boots,That's crazy

           Why me? Why me?

A simple answer would be fine

Won't someone please send me a sign?

Shrek: What did I do to deserve this?

           Honestly

This friend 'o mine is asinine

           Why me?

Shrek:                                                                   Donkey:

Why me? Why me?                                          Sing a song, hit the road

A simple answer would be fine                         It's the way to get around

Won't somebody please send me a sign?        Before ya know it you've                                                                                   gained ground with me

What did I do                                                   And I know all I need all along

To deserve this? Honestly                               Is a path and a pal and a song

This friend 'o mine                                           So, I'm singin'

Is asinine                                                         and I'm pallin'

Ooh.                                                                With you

That'll do, Donkey, That'll do

Tell my Ma'

Tell my ma when I go home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone,
They pulled my hair and stole my comb,
But that's all right 'till I go home.
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city,
She is courting, one two three
Please won't you tell me who is she?

Albert Mooney says he loves her,
All the boys are fighting for her,

They knock on the door and they ring the bell
Sayin' "Oh my true love, are you well?"
Out she comes, as white as snow,
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
Old Johnny
Murphy says she'll die
If she doesn't get the
fellow with the roving eye.

Chorus:  Tell my ma when I go home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone,
They pulled my hair and stole my comb,
But that's all right 'till I go home.
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city,
She is courting, one two three

Please won't you tell me who is she?

Let the wind and the rain and the hail blow high
And the snow come tumbling from the sky
She's as nice as apple pie
She'll get her own
lad, by and by
When she gets a lad of her own,
She won't tell her ma 'till she comes home,
Let them
all come as they will,
For it's Albert Mooney that she loves still.

Chorus x3

Favourite Things - Richard Rodger

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,

Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens,

Brown paper packages tied up with strings,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels,

Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles,

Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes,

Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,

Silver white winters that melt into springs,

These are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings

When I'm feeling sad

I simply remember my favorite things

And then I don't feel so bad
